Congratulations Jenna

 My Niece is getting married!!!

She had an engagement BBQ and everyone was instructed to bring a pie.  Since I sew much better than I cook this is what I brought.  I just love all the ideas she has for the wedding I hope she lets me help.

Welcome Baby Noah Born Today

New Baby Quilt from Eric Carl Fabric

This was for my sweet friend Marissa.  I just fell in love with this fabric. Eric Carl was one of my favorites when my daughter was young.

This was made from 2 different Eric Carl panels.  I just couldn't decide which one I liked the best so to got both so now I have enough left to make another one.

Enjoy!

Picnic Quilt

This was made from some precut fabric bundles I found at IKEA.  I bought 2 of these 8" square canvas fabric bundles for under 10 dollars.  Each bundle had 50 pieces in it.

I used a twin size duvet cover from IKEA for the back.  I was very happy with the outcome.

Now I need to figure out how I will quilt this.

Scrap Busting-Braided Rug

This all got started from cleaning out my selvage bins.  I started braiding them together and making this small rug.  I plan to keep adding on to this.

Stay tuned!!

This will be perfect in the sewing room I will be making out of my daughters bedroom as soon as I have the heart to take it over.  She graduated college and has decided to stay in Orlando.

Fun Bag

I made this from a pattern called the Midi Bag by Quiltsmart.  I made this a few months ago for myself . The one I made had over 100 small pieces and as you can see I changed the pattern and made this with 6 pieces.

My daughter loves anything that has flags on it.  This star fabric I have had in my stash for at least 20 years.  I think Casey had a forth of july dress made out of this when she was 4 or 5.  I will try to find a picture and post it at the end.
Before
After

My daughter loved it!!!

I was very happy with how this finished.  The original pattern was patchwork and had a lot of piecing and this was just a few pieces and went together quick and easy.  I am sure I will make more.

This was my passion before I started quilting.
This was my daughter many years ago.  It was so much fun to sew for her.  I still have many scraps form the dresses i made for her and I just love to use them in my quilts.

IKEA Fun

I was in Ft. Lauderdale for the week staying with my mom after her knee surgery.  I did manage to find some time to get to IKEA with my sister-in-law.  I don't know what it is about that store but I could spend hours there.   Guess what we found?  PRECUTS  approx 8" squares.

Look I made a quilt top last night.

Since the fabric is heavy like upholstery fabric I think the will make a great picnic or beach quilt.  Pretty fun for around $5.00!!!

Row by Row

I had to go into work today to let workers in and I have to go back and lock up when they are finished. So I thought I might as well check out the quilt shops within in 50 miles while I wait. I'll post photos!!!

Memory Quilt Progress

The hard part is done.

Now I'm trying to decide if I should do a 1" purple inner border and binding with a multicolor 3" border. Or if I should use pink like the letters.
At first I thought I would just match pink the lettering.  I'm surprised but I think I like the purple better.

Inspiration-Diversion

I'm not sure where I will use this but I was looking through a book on seminole indian patchwork and this pattern was in it.  I just had to make a few. You would think I didn't have anything to do.

I have 4 quilt tops to quilt.
I have 2 quilt tops to sew together
and I have the memory quilt to complete.

Memory Quilt

I'm making a memory quilt for a sweet friend.
This is before I started cutting up all the clothes.  The first cut is the hardest.

This was after 12 hours

This is after about 18 hours of fusing and cutting.  I still have a ways to go but is seems to be coming together.  I have 4 or 5 more pieces to add and then I will start to fill in the empty spaces with the leftover scraps.

Baby Quilt #2 Finished

Hand is a four letter word.

I completed this quilt including the label with out hand stitching anything!!!
I hate hand stitching!!

I was going to machine sew the label into  the corner of the quilt on 2 sides and then i would only  have to  hand stitch it down across the angle but as I was  pinning it on I had a great idea.   I just faced the back of the label with fabric so when it fits in the corner it makes a small finished pocket.
No hand stitching!!!

I think this is how I will attach labels from now on.  I have been having good luck printing on fabric with my ink jet printer.  I  have been able to just tape the fabric on the paper and run it through.  I had read that all you have to do is iron it and it heat sets it but today I soaked the label in white vinegar for 5 minutes rinsed it and then ironed it dry.

Lots of help from my grand cat "Draco"

Three more blocks finished tonight.

See all the bonus half square triangles to the side.  They will make a great border.  I get four of them with each block I finish so I will have more than enough to go around this king size quilt.

I only have 7 more blocks to make and then I can start sewing them together.

Pineapple Blossom (Getting Bigger)

This is the quilt from the Bonnie Hunter Class.  She has this and many more free patterns on her website you must check it out.   Here is the link to this quilt pattern Pineapple Blossom.  You may also notice that I have a link to her website on my home page.

This is a big WIP and getting bigger.  I am making this for my king size bed.  I now have 46 - 12.5" blocks. Only 10 more to go.  I can't wait to start sewing this together.  I have to hurry my mom is ahead of me. She is sewing on her boarders.

Mine is bigger.

This is what my mom is working on.  She decided to put sashing and corner stones between her blocks.  I like how that looks.  I just love the blue and white.  Cant wait to show more pictures when she finishes.

Pineapple Blossom

This is just the beginning

I had the pleasure of attending a Bonnie Hunter workshop with my mother in January.  We had a wonderful time on the west coast of Florida.  Our class was on a thursday so we made a long weekend out of it.   We went to every quit shop in a 60 mile radius and we even did some sewing in the hotel room.

Mom found out that Bonnie Hunter was coming to Punta Gorda in January to teach classes and do a lecture/trunk show.  Peace River Quilters Guild was putting this on so Mom contacted them to see if there was any openings for the class.  We got in!!!

More To Come

Quilts of Valor Blocks

My guild (Martin County Quilters) asked us all to make two matching 6.5" blocks that are red, white and blue with a star in them.  One will be used in the quilt and the other will be put into a raffle.   Here are my blocks.  I was just going to make 2 but I couldn't decide.

Whoops I have no red in my wonky stars.  I'll have to figure out how to fix that.

Bonnie's Trunk Show

Here are some pictures from Bonnie Hunters Trunk Show.  There were so many people there it was hard to get good pictures.  Most of the quilts were king size.

This first quilt explained what size to cut your strips into.
