Beautiful Weekend

Busy day on Saturday.  Quilters' Choice was having a sale.  Its about 25 miles away and the only quilt shop in the area.  I was looking forward to going for a few days.  I had my list in hand.  I needed to pick up quilting thread and find a couple backs for finished tops. I also was trying to get the book for a free motion class I'm taking in a few weeks.   I wish there was a shop closer to my house.  I do have a Joann's about 6 miles from me but its just not the same.

I found fabric for one of the backs and the lady helped me with the thread.  Not a color I would have chosen but, I liked her suggestion and I think it will be perfect.  I am going to bind it with the same backing fabric.
Disappearing 9 patch ready to get pinned
I like the backs to be as fun as the tops!!!

I wasn't able to get everything on my list.  I'm still looking for the back and binding for the black and white houndstooth and my book was not in yet.

I started a new scrappy top.  I will not buy any fabric to go in this.  I will link to the website with the tutorial as soon as i figure out how to do that. Here it is Scrappy Trips Around The World  I have seen a few others doing the same pattern.  I think it will be a great way to use up scraps.
Maybe it will grow on me.
This is only 4 blocks.  I think when I get 12 or 16 it will look much better.
I'm not loving it.  I'll keep you posted.

My daughter came home from school late Saturday night for a day and night.  I just love to spend time with her.  I didn't get much sewing done but I did get her to help me take pictures. We took my finished quilts outside and she held them up so I could get good pictures.  Now I can update my Finished Projects 2012.

Disappearing 9 Patch

Look how different this looks now that its been cut and sewn back together.

I never expected to get this top finished tonight.  It's amazing what you can get done if you don't turn on the TV.  I guess it time to start looking for a back for this one too.  After I cut the 9 patch block I had to try a couple different layouts even though this was the one I was thinking of.  Here is two that I didn't pick.  Maybe next time!!!

Now for the next project?

Today's Accomplishments

A Birthday present along with a coffee mug for a friend at work.

I have two quilts in the works. The first one is my Stepping Stones quilt  it is pinned and ready to be quilted.  I just need to find the perfect quilting thread.  The other is my Houndstooth and it is laid out and ready to be sewn together but it still needs a back.  So now I have a great excuse to start a new project...

Soon to be disappearing 9 patch

I have had this Moda California Girl charm pack for a while and have been looking for a pattern to use it in.  I saw a post for a disappearing 9 patch and it reminded me of this fun easy block.  All I have right now is 9 patches but once I cut it and do the disappearing part I think it will make a great baby quilt.

These are leftovers from my Stepping Stones quilt.

I cut wedges from the leftover Key Lime Bali Pops  fabric and keep a stack next to my sewing machine.  I use them for leaders and enders.  It's amazing how fast this went together.  Not sure what I will make from the Dresden's maybe a table runner.

What Inspires Me

I love quilting!!!  I am starting this blog to inspire and motivate myself to quilt and finish my projects, in turn I will have something to show and something to blog about. I also hope you will find some inspiration on my blog for your own projects.

Here are some of my current projects.

This next one is finished.  I have so much help from this big guy that he needed a quilt to call his very own.  As you can see he still has to approve every thing I do.
