One Down & Eight To Go
The picnic quilt is quilted. Very simple straight line quilting. I used my new Juki with the walking foot. Now I just have to bind it. Not sure what color to make the binding. Light blue, Yellow or Navy.
The worst part about pinning a quilt is that you have to mop the floor first.

Here is a close up of the simple quilting. |
Finished quilt coming soon!!!

My New Baby
I picked her up on Saturday.
I can't wait to spend a few uninterrupted days just playing in my sewing room.
I was so excited to set her up on Saturday night and get her running. I could not figure out how to use the needle threader( of course the owner of the shop went over this with me but that was about 5 hours earlier). So after about 30 minuets of reading the manual over and over I googled it. Seems this is a common problem. In about 5 minutes I had it all figured out. I should have started on line to begin with. I just sewed some of my pink scraps together getting use to the knee lift for the presser foot and the automatic thread cutter. I just love it!!! Can't wait to do some free motion quilting...

Studying the Masters Workshop Focus Georgia O'Keeffe
Fantastic Workshop with Michele Sanandajian from Urban Palms Studio. Full of all of my favorite things. We worked with mixed media, collage, fabric painting and thread and bobbin play. It's fun to step out of your box once in a while. Here are some of the fabrics I designed for my project.
I was thinking of the colors I would need in my project.
I cannot wait to finish it.
Such a wonderful weekend. Our workshop was in a hotel located right on the beach. About ten of us spent the night. I roomed with Betty and we were up till 1:30 playing in the sewing room and then talking the night away for another hour in the room. We thought it would be a great idea to get up to see the sunrise. It was worth the loss of sleep, a bit cloudy but as beautiful as ever.
Here are more beautiful pictures from my weekend.

Mug Rugs
Just a little something for some of my friends at work.
This will match the quilt I made him. But this will stay at work so his desk will stay dry. |
I just loved this fabric. It says Crabby but I thought it needed more so I put Alicia's initial on it. Now all I can think about is the Scarlet Letter |
What else do you make for someone who is on the phone all day. And Nikki loves purple |

Modern Table Runner-Inspired from QuiltCon
I was so inspired form a quilt I saw at QuiltCon i just had to make it. I had the perfect opportunity when my neice picked 4 different colors of Fiesta Ware for her Wedding registry. While at QuiltCon i purchased a Kona Color Chart (I love it. That is a blog post in its self.) so I took it to Macys and matched it up to the dishes. So now she has a table runner that matches perfectly.
Of corse this is the front |
This was the first time I played with the matchstick quilting. I like how the thread in the color blocks shows on the grey.
And this is the back |
When she opened it the first thing she saw was the back and she loved it. Then I had to tell her to turn it over. Once she realized it matched her dishes she loved it.
Enjoy!!!
My New Toy--Sizzix Fabi Fabric Cutter
Wile I was at QuiltCon in February I saw this Sizzix Fabric Cutter. How Fun!!! I didn't buy it there because I had to fly home and didn't want to deal with packing it. So it was the first thin I had to buy when I got home. The first die i purchased was the bottle. I couldn't wait to use it so my kitties got a new place mat. The love it and so do I.
It sews together very easily for being curves. I'm very happy with the outcome. Just imagine a whole quilt made like this.
Enjoy!!!

These are for some very lucky ladies heading to Paris.
My bosses wife and daughter are off to Paris on a girls trip. I think this will be a fun surprise for them.
